The final decision is made. The biggest whisky festival of Holland moves from Leiden to the Hague. The new home will be the Grote Kerk in the Hague. The enormous increase in costs is the reason for this change. In 2001, 2002 and 2003 this church was also the host of the festival, but as they weren’t properly licensed, the organisation chose for Leiden. Now the licence is legalised they return to the old spot.

The Macallan did the Dutch presentation of the “masters of photography” / The Albert Watson Edition, in restaurant “Lion Noir” in Amsterdam. The unveiling of the 20 year old bottle and photo series “the journey” specially made for this introduction was done. In these photo’s Watson shows the journey of the special oak casks from the Spanish woods to the Eastern Elchies House (home of Macallan in Scotland). The limited collection counts a 1000 unique bottles. The price will be approximately € 775.--.
 

Whisky shows to be a good investment.
Where the stock market was disappointing in 2010, the investments in whisky were excellent. The benefit of the whisky’s sold by the World Wide Whisky Index reached a 29.9 % this year.
The World Wide Index manages 4.9 million euro in whisky with about 280 customers from Holland and abroad.
Investing in whisky is a serious comparator of the usual investments these days. If you have knowledge on the item you can earn money, because the availability reduces on a growing demand.

"Islay, whisky island full of history", is the title of Robin Brilleman’s new book about the Islay distilleries, working and lost, the history of illegal distilling, the water sources, the soil appearance, and most important the peat, giving the Islay’s there specific taste.

At Bruichladdich distillery on Islay a spirit is produced according to a recipe in a book of 1695. If the distillery doesn’t explode, we’ll meet in about 10 years a super WHISKY with an alcoholic content of 92% abv. The distillation process is repeated 4 times instead of the usual double distillation.
